Range

The Gobi Desert stretches from southern Mongolia to northern China.

Habitat Description

The Gobi Desert is a windswept and treeless plain that stretches from southern Mongolia to northern China. It is mostly rock with none of the usual sandy dunes one would expect in a desert.

Animals Found in This Habitat

The tough grasses are food for the wild camels and kulan that still roam the rugged land. People roam the Gobi with herds of sheep, cattle, and goats, in search of the few plants. Their numbers are few and they must keep moving to find enough food.

Plants Found in This Habitat

In some parts of the Gobi, feather grass, snakeweed, and other wild plants survive the heat and drought.
