Photosynthesis Poster - 2D Model for K-2nd Grade

Photosynthesis Poster 2D Model for K-2nd Grade

Developing and using models to understand science concepts is part of the Science and Engineering Practices integral to the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).  “In science, models are used to represent a system under study, to aid in the development of questions and explanations, to generate data that can be used to make predictions, and to communicate ideas to others.”

Modeling in K–2 builds on prior experiences and progresses to include using and developing models (i.e., diagram, drawing, physical replica, diorama, dramatization, or storyboard) that represent concrete events or design solutions.

Materials Provided: Copy 6 pages for each student so they can each construct a 2D Model of Photosynthesis.

Materials Needed:
glue sticks
poster boards* for each student (or team) - *Cut 22 x 28” poster boards in half to create 14 x 22” posters

Following your unit on Photosynthesis, students will color, cut out and build a 2D Model of Photosynthesis, to display and reinforce their understanding of this scientific concept.

Included in this bundle (6 pages):
1) Photosynthesis Model Coloring Page
2) Three pages of graphics for the development of the poster (including arrows)
