This accurate (as of 2023) classification graphic shows the Animal Kingdom is broken down into 9 groups or Phyla. Each Phyla is, in turn, broken down into many Classes and each Class into Orders. Each Order is broken down into Families, then Genus, and Species. The Animal Kingdom chart shows the 9 animal Phyla with special attention to the Phylum Chordata and its Subphylum Vertebrata - animals with backbones. (A Subphylum is a smaller group below Phylum that helps sort out some of the more complex Phyla.) From the Phylum - Chordata down, each level shows just the most well-known of the many groups.
